We are delighted to announce that we are the first and lead sponsor of Lichfield Radio.
Set to launch on 19 January 2026, Lichfield Radio will provide a brand-new voice for the city, Burntwood and surrounding villages. Broadcasting online, the station will deliver a mix of live programmes and on-demand podcasts, all built around the uplifting mantra “Accentuating the Positive”.
The project is the brainchild of Scott Milligan and fellow director Ruth Redgate, who have been laying the foundations over the past year. Their ambition is to create a station rooted in community spirit, shining a light on local people, events and creativity.
Scott said, “When Ruth and I first talked about launching Lichfield Radio, we wanted it to feel like it belonged to everyone in our area, and something they would listen to at home, in the office, in cafés and beyond. To have such an iconic local business as our very first sponsor is a liberating moment. We knew the wheels had truly started turning when Arthur Price stepped forward. With local business sponsorship we can give a platform to local artists, community organisations and startups, and that is exactly what this station is about.”
Ruth added, “We are so grateful to Simon and James Price for their support. Their encouragement has been invaluable as we take these exciting first steps. Our focus will be on celebrating Culture, Sports, Business and History across Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages, helping to nurture a sense of civic pride and giving people a real connection to the place they call home.”
Newly appointed CEO James Price said, “Arthur Price has been part of this community for many years and wholeheartedly supports Lichfield Radio’s vision to celebrate this wonderful place we call home.”
The partnership comes at a time when momentum for Lichfield Radio is rapidly growing. Recent coverage of the Barton Marina Artisan Market and the Lichfield Food & Drink Festival saw social media numbers and station registrations rocket, proving the appetite for a platform dedicated to positive stories and community life.
With the official launch now just months away, more than 100 people have already registered their interest as presenters, podcasters or volunteers. Dozens of local businesses are also expected to join Arthur Price as sponsors, helping to support what will be a truly community-led station.
Scott explained, “The response has been overwhelming. People want to hear about the positives in our community, and that’s exactly what we will deliver. From lively breakfast shows and specialist music programmes to podcasts celebrating local voices, we are building something that reflects the very best of Lichfield, Burntwood and beyond.
“The team is now shaping plans for a launch that will not only introduce the station but also celebrate the people and places that make the district special. With support from local businesses, volunteers and listeners, Lichfield Radio is set to become a platform that inspires civic pride while reflecting the creativity, heritage and positivity of the region.
“I can’t wait until the big launch after Christmas and in the meantime, I welcome anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, supporter, guest, patron, sponsor or even a programme host to get in touch via our website www.lichfieldradio.org”
