Construction Firm Lays Foundation For Future Grants With Donation

Manchester based McGoff Construction has made a £500 donation to We Love Lichfield. The firm has been working in Lichfield for the past six months constructing the 70 bed; The Spires care home for client; Barchester Healthcare on the Stafford Road, Lichfield

Simon Price, Arthur Price CEO and Patron of We Love Lichfield received the donation and said: “A huge thanks to McGoff. It’s wonderful to hear that a firm from out of the area, who have got to know the district during the build project heard about our work and thought they’d like to make a donation.”

Simon Price Appointed Vice-Chair Of Community Foundation

The Community Foundation For Staffordshire has appointed two new Vice Chairs as it targets becoming one of the biggest of its type in the UK. Simon Price, CEO of cutlery firm Arthur Price and Stafford-based procurement consultant Jonathan Andrew will help steer the community grant and fund management organisation through the next few years as it expands, whilst ensuring it delivers its key objectives of helping those in need.

 

Jonathan is a former President of Stafford Chamber of Commerce and spent 10 years volunteering for Young Enterprise in Stafford.   Before he started Baswich Business Services, he was the Deputy Chief Executive of Business Link Staffordshire.

 

Simon Price, is the Chief Executive of cutlery and gift firm Arthur Price.  He is the fourth generation to be at the helm of the of the 115 year-old company. Patron of community fund We Love Lichfield, ex Sheriff of Lichfield, Simon has been a Foundation Trustee since 2013

Their respective roles are to support the growth of the Community Foundation For Staffordshire as it targets fund value of £20m by 2025.  Simon will focus on raising awareness of the Foundation and leading its local community funds. Jonathan will lead on governance and ensuring the grants awarded make an impact.

Steve Adams, Chief Executive of The Community Foundation For Staffordshire said: “We are growing every year and expect to have funds valued at £20m by 2025 which would see us as one of the biggest of its kind in the UK.  We celebrate ten years in operation in 2018 and have grown significantly in the past few years giving away over £1m per year across the county.  The positions of Vice Chair have been created to ensure we not only hit the target, but mostly importantly increase the amount we can distribute to those in need and organisations that make a difference to our communities.”

Arthur Price has announced that it’s Perfect Christmas event in November has raised £1760 for We Love Lichfield.  The event was a roaring success with over 140 people attending the special evening event and through raffle ticket sales and a donation by Arthur Price of £10 during November 2017 for every £100 spend in its Lichfield shop, the event raised a large amount for The Fund.

 

The event was hosted by Arthur Price in association with other Lichfield businesses who all staged Christmas demonstrations.  These included Le Reve Bar of Bird Street, local celebrity private chef Simon Smith, Worth Brothers of Beacon Street, Jemma’s Floral Displays of Tamworth Street, Catherine’s Cakes on Burntwood and Robert Broad Travel.

I’d like to thank all the business who supported the event and who together have raised such a fantastic figure.  It really does show that the District of Lichfield is a great place to live and work”

 

Launched in 2011, the We Love Lichfield Fund considers applications from local groups across the District in need twice a year.  Companies and individuals are welcomed to donate or fund-raise for the Fund. All money is invested through a permanent endowment fund registered by charity the Community Foundation For Staffordshire on behalf of We Love Lichfield in line with charity commission guidelines. The interest and dividends earned on the invested money is then distributed by the ‘We Love Lichfield Fund’ as small grants across the district.
